Greenpeace
tests confirm only baby food and organic products can guarantee
freedom from harmful pesticide residues.

Tests carried out in Germany by the environmental
organisation Greenpeace have confirmed that only in manufactured
baby foods
and organic products can we be sure that processed fruit and
vegetables are free from chemical residues.
Hundreds of food samples were tested for pesticide residues.
Experts found that three quarters of all apples, pears and
carrots cultivated using non-organic methods, contained up
to four different types of pesticide residue.
Organic products are recommended, particularly for the preparation
of baby and children's foods, as infants and toddlers are especially
sensitive and are therefore at greater risk from pesticides.
Relative to their body weight they have an intake of three
to four times as much food as adults.
Praise for HiPP from Greenpeace: Baby jars are the safest
Greenpeace tested a variety of HiPP jars, which were found
to be 100 per cent free of pesticides and therefore come highly
commended by the environmentalists.
"There are rigorous pesticide limits for ready made baby
food products" says Jane Mayall, HiPP's UK Marketing Manager. "This
emphasises the great care and strict monitoring that are basic
prerequisites in the manufacture of babyfoods at HiPP."
"We are very pleased that once again the superior quality
of our organic products has been confirmed - all the more that
this was done by the Greenpeace environmentalists who are known
to be especially critical," said Dr. Claus HiPP at HiPP
Germany commenting on the praise. "Safety and quality
are of paramount importance in the creation of HiPP products".
