HiPP
website campaign raises £5000
for Midwives in China
February 2005
Visitors to HiPP
Organic’s website helped raise £5,000
for the Midwife Training Programme in the remote Dritog County,
China, run by the charity ‘Children in Crisis.’
Throughout November and December, HiPP Organic launched a ‘donate
per click’ website campaign to raise much needed funds
for the project. Every click on the Children in Crisis link
on the HiPP website over this period donated 10p to the programme.
The Dritog region is four times the size of Wales, where they
have only one ill-equipped hospital and the infant mortality
rate is 40% within the first year.
The Midwife Training Project provides basic healthcare and
midwifery training for 50 young women from remote villages.
The girls then return to their communities and adopt the role
of healthcare trainer, midwife and ‘district nurse’.
Caroline Langford from Children in Crisis said” The
young women have now completed their classroom training and
are carrying out work placements at the County Hospital. Later
on this year they will complete their training and receive
their qualification as a District Nurse, which they have worked
so hard for”.
“ We could not support this project in China without
the help of generous donations from organisations like HiPP
Organic”.
Samantha Mort from HiPP Organic said “we’d like
to thank all the visitors to the HiPP website who showed their
support for this vital project”.
