Can organic follow on milks meet same success as organic baby foods?
October 2004

The benefit of feeding babies organically is clear to today's mums, but many are still in the dark when it comes to organic Follow on Milks, research by HiPP Organic Baby Foods has revealed.

Whilst nearly half of all mums buy only organic baby foods, many mums do not understand where Follow on Milk comes from or how it can be organically produced. Many of the respondents said they didn't even realise that all Follow On milks are based on cows' milk.

"Most mums hadn't even considered how formula milk could be made organically, as their perception of where milk formula originates is that it's made in a laboratory by a scientist". Explains Samantha Mort at HiPP Organic. "So many mums these days are opting for organic baby foods because they want the peace of mind that organic ingredients give. Conversely, the benefit of organic Follow on Milk is largely yet to be embraced. At present just 6% of all Follow on Milks sold in the UK are organic"

HiPP Organic hopes to change this perception by introducing new pack designs for their milks which convey the benefits of organic in a clear and accessible way. For example, HiPP cows are never given growth hormones, and are allowed to graze naturally in organic meadows. Which means HiPP Follow on milks are guaranteed to contain no harmful chemical or pesticide residues, and no GM ingredients are used.

As with all Follow on milks, HiPP milks are bound by strict guidelines and are formulated to meet the nutritional needs of babies from 6 months plus.

As well as their organic benefits, HiPP milks are the lowest priced organic follow on milks available in the UK, so they can offer mums peace of mind at a fair price.

The new style HiPP Milk packs will be appearing in supermarkets from the end of October 2004, and coincides with the launch of a brand new HiPP Organic Growing Up Milk for toddlers, a vanilla flavoured milk formula suitable for babies from 10 months.
