Protecting
the environment and looking after this world for
our children has been our prime aim for more than forty
years. What began with a commitment to growing organic
vegetables has now spread throughout the HiPP culture and
become a firm philosophy of environmental management. |
|
Raw Materials
-
HiPP is the largest processor of organic raw materials
world wide.
-
By increasing our organic consumption of foods, we
are protecting more and more of the soil and ground
water from the destructive effects of chemical fertilisers
and synthetic pesticides.
|
|
|
Water
- In a planned investment programme over the last decade,
HiPP have reduced water consumption at our German plant
by half. This is a saving of 372,000 m3 of
water - equivalent to all the bottles of mineral water
drunk by the population of Munich in a four year period!
- The pure, natural mineral water we use is supplied
from our own protected well
|
|
Emissions
- At HiPP, we have set our own targets to achieve
and exceed the Rio Agreement standards.
- We changed our Plant power supply to biomass power
in 2001. We now save approximately 92% CO2 (by the
use of biomass power and 'green' electricity
- hydro-electric and solar power)
- In addition, the much-reduced use of heating oil
in the boiler rooms means that carbon dioxide and sulphur
dioxide levels will fall too.
|
|
Waste
- We recycle 97% of our waste
- For instance, much of this waste is organic and can
be used in animal feed, as energy in biogas plants or
as liquid manure in cultivation.

|
Award winning
- HiPP won a United Nations Millenium Business Award recognising
outstanding environmental performance.
- HiPP Organic are the proud winners of the Mother & Baby
Gold Award for 'Most Environmentally Friendly Product'
which we have won for the past three years running.
