About Wendy Rumble

Wendy Rumble, a working mother of two young girls, founded RunningBuggies.com in 2015 after struggling to combine childcare with getting a regular exercise fix. It was the UK’s first retail website dedicated solely to buggies for running. Wendy’s aim is to enable parents to have the freedom to exercise. The online shop ceased trading in 2018 but continues to provide lots of helpful information and advice.

Previously a keen hockey player and runner (she has completed seven marathons as well as being a regular at her local parkrun), Wendy’s career history is sales in retail and the FMCG industry, for brands such as RedBull, Marks & Spencer, Anheuser Busch (Budweiser), Diageo, Britvic Soft Drinks and currently HiPP organic. She has recently joined Maidenhead Athletics club to coach all ages and abilities.

Growing awareness

Wendy created a dedicated Facebook community with 5000 members called ‘The Original Buggy Runners’, which aims to inspire and motivate parents. She has a team of 10 volunteer ambassadors who help manage the group on a daily basis.

Lucozade Movers

In September 2019 Wendy was named as one of the top 50 movers in the UK in a list compiled by Lucozade Sport and the Independent to celebrate the unsung people who inspire others to move. More information available on www.lucozadesport.com

About buggy running

These high-tech buggies, which are growing in popularity in the UK following a surge in sales in the USA, allow parents to run whilst also looking after their child(ren), getting fresh air and inspiring the next generation to get into exercise. Wendy is passionate about increasing awareness of buggy running in the UK. In 2016, she met with the UK Minister for Sport as well as the Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss getting women active. She has written articles for Women’s Running magazine, Womens fitness magazine, Run Deep magazine and been featured in Health & Fitness magazine. She has worked with England Athletics, Run England and The This Girl Can Run in order to promote buggy running.

Buggy Squad

In 2017, Wendy co-founded a buggy running club based in Maidenhead called Buggy Squad (part of the England Athletics program, Run Together), which offered a free weekly buggy run with buggy hire available. After over 800 sessions including 6 C25k groups they have paused due to CV-19 restrictions.
