Update 31.03.20

A lot has changed over the past 3 weeks and we fully appreciate how worrying it is particularly for parents with babies and young children. We’re doing our utmost to help parents find stock and to offer objective advice to particular questions.

We wanted to inform our customers that due to a significant and ongoing increased demand all over Europe, there are likely to be temporary gaps in supply of our First Infant and Follow On milk powders. Our factory continues to operate 24 hours a day to produce more powder to meet this high demand and, under current circumstances, we expect to have more stock available in mid-April.

In the meantime, we would advise our customers of the following:

• Please visit and place orders on our online HiPP webshop (www.shop.hipp.co.uk) (PLEASE NOTE: we are restricting orders to 2 boxes of powder per household)

• If your child is over 6 months of age, please be advised you have the option of using Follow On milk

• As an alternative to powder, we currently have supply of Ready-To-Feed First Infant and Follow On products available in key retailers and for order on our HiPP webshop (PLEASE NOTE: we are restricting orders to 5 cases of RTF per household).

If you would like to speak to someone about our milks or any of our other products, please contact our infant nutrition experts who are on hand to offer impartial advice on 0800 298 4477 or email us on hello@hipp.co.uk. We also update our Coronavirus page on our website every day.

Update 25.03.20

Customer Notice: Due to increased demand for our products, we wanted to make you aware that any orders customers have placed from our online Hipp Shop may have delivery delayed by a couple of days. This is because our fulfilment partners are at full capacity and are also working hard to keep their drivers safe. We apologise for this slight delay, please be patient with us during this short period and we’re working hard to keep up with on time deliveries.

Update 19.03.20

We are working closely with and having daily conversations with the majority of UK retailers, including the likes of Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Boots and Ocado to provide them with a good supply of our HiPP milk powder and RTF products. We do not control which stores our products go into but if you are experiencing issues in getting hold of your usual HiPP milk in any of these retailers, please visit our online shop as an alternative because we are also providing regular deliveries here as a way of helping to deal with high customer demand.

Q and As

Introduction:

A lot has changed over the past 3 weeks and we fully appreciate how worrying it is particularly for parents with babies and young children. We’re doing our utmost to monitor the effects of the Coronavirus very closely and will inform you promptly about any new development affecting our HiPP products and to offer objective advice to particular questions. Here are some Q&A’s which we hope will be useful to customers based on the type of questions that we have been asked over the past 3 weeks:

Where can I get HiPP Organic baby products if they aren’t available in stores?

Should there be a shortage on the shelves in your region due to stockpiling, we also sell our products on our HiPP webshop which we deliver directly to your home. Please visit www.shop.hipp.co.uk:

Are there restrictions on how many products you can buy on the HiPP webshop?

Unfortunately, yes. In order to ensure that Formula products are available to as many people as possible, certain restrictions have been put in place by most retailers and manufacturers. HiPP Organic products can be purchased on-line through the HiPP shop which can be accessed via our website or at www.shop.hipp.co.uk First Infant and Follow on Milk Powders are restricted to two packs of 800g per household, and Ready-to-Feed First Infant formula and Ready-to-Feed Follow on formula are restricted to five cases.

If I can’t get hold of my usual Hipp Organic First Infant powder, am I okay to use to HiPP Organic First infant ready-to-feed?

Yes, the nutritional profile is the same as powder but it is a Ready to feed liquid. First Infant ready to feed is a whey based infant milk suitable from birth onwards if baby is not being breastfed or to complement breastfeeding. If your baby is between 6 and 12 months old you can also switch to Follow on milk if you are struggling to find First Infant milk.

If I can’t get hold of my usual Hipp Organic First infant milk, am I okay to use another brand?

We would not normally advise you to change your baby’s formula milk without consulting a Healthcare Professional. However, we are in an unprecedented situation and the priority is making sure your baby gets the appropriate nutrition they need, especially if they are under 6 months of age. So, if you need to change your brand of First infant formula product, please be reassured that it is completely safe for you to do so. However, because all the formula brands have slightly different compositions, tastes and textures some babies may experience settling issues when switching products such as changes in stool frequency and/or colour. This is quite normal and any such symptoms should be minimal and temporary. If you have any concerns please contact a Healthcare Professional for advice.

I usually feed my baby First Infant milk, can I switch to Follow on?

If you are currently using First infant milk and your baby is over 6 months old then you can switch to Follow on milk which is perfectly safe and suitable for babies who are over 6 months old and are not exclusively breastfeeding. All Infant and Follow on formulas meet strict nutritional guidelines. Follow on formulas are tailored to meet the changing nutritional needs, and complement the weaning diet, of infants between 6 and 12 months old. Please also note that the new updated powder recipes (EU 2020 regulations) now contain fish oils.

If I can’t get hold of my usual Hipp Organic Follow on powder, can I switch to HiPP Organic Follow on ready-to-feed?

Yes, if your baby is between 6 and 12 months old, it is perfectly safe and suitable to switch to ready to feed. The nutritional profile is the same as powder but it is a Ready to feed liquid. All Follow on formulas are tailored to meet the changing nutritional needs, and complement the weaning diet, of infants between 6 and 12 months old.

What formula can I give to my baby between 6 - 12 months old if I can’t find my usual formula milk?

If your baby is between 6 and 12 months old, and not exclusively breastfeeding, you can use most infant milks from any manufacturer labelled suitable from birth as well as any Follow on formula in powder or liquid form (excluding specialist milks unless appropriate for your baby’s circumstances). You should not use 1 year onwards (or 12months+) Growing up or Toddler formula milk for babies under 12 months. Please also ensure that you always check the on pack allergen information if switching baby to a new milk.

What should I do if I my baby is using Specialist Products (Comfort or Anti Reflux formula) and I can’t find supplies?

We recommend you speak to your Healthcare Professional for advice if your baby has specific needs and you are using Comfort or Anti reflux milks. We currently have supplies of these products and are sending regular orders to retailers.

Are HiPP products safe? Are HiPP products that are bought in the shops / online safe? Can the virus be transmitted via HiPP products?

Yes, HiPP Organic products are safe. Our baby and infant food complies with the strictest hygiene requirements, which we ensure through comprehensive measures during production.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) also states that there is no evidence that the virus can be transmitted via food. Please click on this link to find out more: www.efsa.europa.eu/en/news/coronavirus-no-evidence-food-source-or-transmission-route

For parents, we would advise you to always follow the general recommendations of everyday hygiene when preparing and storing baby formula and meals for your child:

1. wash your hands thoroughly before preparing the meal and before feeding

2. prepare the meals fresh and feed them soon after preparation

3. store the products according to the instructions on the packaging

Can the virus be transmitted via packages or other surfaces?

A transmission of coronaviruses via so-called "inanimate" surfaces is not yet known. An infection via surfaces such as imported goods, mail or luggage is currently considered unlikely. It is much more important to wash your hands as the best protective measure, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO)

www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-coronaviruses

Regular and thorough hand washing is an important part of personal hygiene and can protect against a variety of infection

Where can I find out more on Coronavirus?

Your national authorities, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the WHO are providing comprehensive information on their websites:
