As a parent, you can never have too many activities for toddlers up your sleeve. And this little guessing game is certainly one to add to your collection. It’s quick and easy to make. But best of all, it’s sure to keep them entertained for more than a minute or two – wherever you are; at home; in the garden; at their grandparents’; or anywhere really!
HiPP Little Twists Memory Game
But playing isn’t just about having fun, it’s about learning. Games for toddlers, like this one, are great for helping them develop essential skills like problem solving, communication and taking turns. They can also help little ones hone their motor skills and develop the ability to concentrate. In other words, toys are like tools to inspire their imagination. So, grab your glue stick and felt tips, and let’s get crafting!
Make your own Little Twists Memory Game
- An even number of clean HiPP jar lids (we used 8)
- 4 pieces of different coloured card
- A felt tip pen
- Craft glue
Use your pen to draw around the jar lids. You’ll need 2 circles in each colour of paper. (8 circles in total)
Think of 4 simple pictures to draw in your paper circles. We chose:
- a broccoli floret on green paper (X2)
- a bee on yellow paper (X2)
- a heart on pink paper (X2)
- a bird on brown paper (X2)
When you’ve doodled your pictures, cut them out and stick them to the inside of your jar lids. Each lid should have a picture in it. And you should have four matching pairs.
How to play:
Turn the lids face down, so you can’t see the pictures. Give them a shuffle, then turn over one lid. Now find the other one to make a matching pair. If you don’t get it right first time, put the lid back (face down) and try again.
The more you lift, the more you’ll see – and remember!
