Hipp family
1899
Our Founders: Joseph & Maria Hipp – Parents with a problem to solve

In 1899, new parents Joseph and Maria Hipp struggled to feed their newborn twins. Joseph, a baker, used his culinary skills to create an inventive rusk-based cereal, which helped his babies feed successfully. Joseph started sharing his solution with others and sparked a lifelong mission to support parents everywhere.

Second generation owners: Georg & Anny Hipp – Organic pioneers

Joseph and Maria HiPP’s son, Georg HiPP, inherited the family business. Working with his wife Anny, they revolutionised baby nutrition through developing new recipes and innovative production & packaging, including baby food in a glass jar. In 1956, Georg & Anny converted their farm to organic practices, going against the farming conventions of the era, driven by their convictions that farming without chemical fertilizers or pesticides was better for both babies and the environment. This philosophy still drives HiPP’s thinking today: “The best for nature. The best from nature.”

Third generation owner: Claus HiPP – Quality guaranteed

Georg & Anny’s son, Claus upheld the HiPP family’s mission of organic farming and dedication to quality by creating the HiPP Quality Guarantee in 1990, which is still found today on every HiPP product. This guarantee ensures that parents can trust the standards and safety of HiPP’s baby milk and food. Claus continued his parent’s philosophy, “The Best for Nature, the Best from Nature,” in several ways, including launching a “model farm for diversity” in 2010 for research & promotion of biodiversity and achieving climate neutral status for the Pfaffenhofen and Gmunden production sites in 2011. Claus’s dedication to protecting biodiversity was recognized when a new butterfly species was named after him: Rhodochlora claushippi. This honour reflects HiPP’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation.

Fourth Generation owner: Stefan HiPP – Continuing the legacy

Following the legacy built over the last 125 years and three generations of HiPP family leadership, Stefan HiPP, the great-grandson of the founders, remains dedicated to nurturing a brighter, sustainable future for our children and our planet. Stefan upholds the family tradition of bringing peace of mind to parents through quality products, expert advice, and a commitment to doing the best for nature. He personally guarantees every product, ensuring they exceed EU organic quality standards. By working with nature and sourcing carefully selected organic ingredients, Stefan ensures that HiPP products deliver exceptional quality to families every time.

A long while ago we set out for this path and are going even further. This is what I can assure you and vouch for with my name.
