We're big on sustainability

The HiPP family have pioneered sustainable, organic farming for over 60 years. Through four generations, we’ve developed world-leading farming practices. From our ever-shrinking carbon footprint, to our no-waste ethos, natural farming methods and exceptional animal welfare standards, we’re committed to production that works with nature, not against it. No wonder then, that sustainability is at the heart of our follow-on milk production.

Sustainable ingredients

We use only pure organic skimmed milk. Our cows are fed an organic diet, free from genetically modified feed and they are never routinely fed antibiotics or hormones. We add organic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), sourced from organic lactose; and sustainably sourced Omega 3 LCPs (DHA*) because they play a vital role in normal brain and nervous system development.

* Docosahexaenoic acid, from fish oil

And we’re really proud to use othersustainable ingredients too.  Palm oil is a really important part of our special blend of fatty acids as its high in palmitic acid; which is dominant in breastmilk and plays an important role in a well-tolerated milk. But besides the aim to be as close to nature as possible, we of course only source palm oil from plantations using more sustainable farming practices, which are largely Rainforest Alliance Certified.

Sustainable packaging

Our sustainable practices don’t stop with our milks, our packaging is super sustainable too! We use FSC certified cardboard for our boxes, because the FSC only use wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable. Plus, both our box and scoop can be easily recycled with your kerbside collection.

It’s the little things that make a big difference, so even the ink we print with is sustainable. To avoid the use of mineral inks, which can contain heavy metals and hydrocarbons, we only use renewable, plant-based inks for the printing of our packaging. How clever is that?

Sustainable production

We’ve been working on shrinking our carbon footprint across our production sites for many years. Our jar factory in Pfaffenhofen, Germany has been powered by green energy since the early 1990s.

In 2019, we took another huge step in our mission to tackle carbon emissions, when our follow-on milk factory became the first in the world to be certified carbon neutral! We now have our sights set on becoming climate positive by 2025, by offsetting more emissions than we produce.

It’s all these little things we do, that make a big difference to the health of our planet and, by choosing HiPP Organic for your baby, you’re doing your little bit too.
