Are your Baby Care products suitable for my newborn baby?
All of our HiPP Baby Care products are suitable for your little one from newborn. They’re dermatologist approved and have been specially developed for sensitive baby skin, with organic almonds, and they contain no alcohol, microplastics or mineral oil.
Our HiPP Kids Care range, with animals on the front, is made with toddlers in mind, in terms of their composition and application.
How often should I give my baby a bath?
You don't need to bathe your baby every day. But if they really enjoy it, there's no reason why you shouldn't.
As part of an evening routine, a regular bath, 2 to 3 times a week, or more often may help to improve their sleep.
Some babies enjoy a bath more than others, so give them a bath as frequently as works for you, making sure to ‘top and tail’ in between by washing their face, neck, hands and bottom with some cotton wool dipped in warm water.
For tips on how to bathe your newborn, see our article.
How can I get rid of dry skin on my baby's face?
When can I start using baby shampoo?
You can start using a sensitive, dermatologist-approved baby shampoo from when your baby is a newborn.
Do babies need a moisturiser?
Babies’ skin loses water, good fats and natural moisturising factors much more easily than adults’, which can lead to skin dryness, irritation and inflammation. If this persists, your baby can get flaky, scaly, itchy and sore skin. Applying moisturisers regularly (e.g. with nappy changes, after bathing, as part of a morning and evening routine) will help keep babies’ skin hydrated.
It’s important to choose a skincare range designed for babies’ sensitive skin. Look for one that is dermatologically approved. For more information on caring for your baby’s sensitive skin, read our expert article here.
Do HiPP Baby Care products contain nuts and seeds?
Yes. We use organic almond oil and organic almond oil extract in our HiPP Baby Care and Kids Care range.
My baby has eczema. Are your Baby Care products suitable?
All of our HiPP Baby Care and Kids Care products are dermatologically approved and have been specially developed for sensitive baby skin, with organic almonds, and contain no alcohol microplastics or mineral oil.
Our products should be safe to use on eczema-prone skin; however, we would recommend testing on a small area of the baby’s skin first, as skin tolerance is individual.
Do your Baby Care products contain parabens or SLS?
No. Parabens (a group of preservatives) can, in individual cases, trigger allergic reactions in sensitive people. Therefore, we don't use them in any of our products.
Both SLS and SLES are detergents and frothers, used to clean and froth up when used. They’re both linked with skin irritation, so we do not use them in any of our products.
Do you use palm oil in any of your Baby Care products?
We don't use pure palm (kernel) oil in our HiPP Baby Care and Kids Care products. We do, however, use derivatives of these within our products; they have been tried and tested in skincare products and are very well tolerated.
In accordance with our brand philosophy, we only use sustainably produced organic palm oil across our product ranges.
Do you use perfume in any of your Baby Care products?
Many families want their babies to smell nice. However, the raw materials in skincare products – especially oils – have a characteristic, often unpleasant, smell of their own. That is why we have decided to add a pleasantly discreet perfume to most HiPP skincare products. Consumer tests have shown that this subtle fragrance is desirable and scented products are preferred.
Are your Baby Care products organic?
None of our Baby Care or Kids Care products are organic. The term ‘organic’ describes only the origin of the raw materials, but does not imply an extra high level of skin tolerance or suitability for sensitive skin.
All of our HiPP Baby Care products are suitable for your little one from newborn, they’re dermatologist approved and have been specially developed for sensitive baby skin, with organic almonds, and contain no alcohol microplastics or mineral oil.
My baby has an allergy. How can I find out which skincare products are suitable for them?
The ingredients in all our HiPP skincare products can always be found in full on the list of ingredients for each product. While all of our products are dermatologically approved, not everybody’s skin is the same and so it is recommended to carry out a patch test to see if a product causes any irritation or reaction.
If irritations occur or if an allergy is suspected, consult a dermatologist. They can investigate the cause of the skin reaction by identifying the substance that triggered it. The best prevention is then to avoid the substance or substances.
For all skincare products, we recommend that you test the tolerability of new products first on a small area of skin (e.g. the crook of your elbow).
