Did you know?

That the strawberry, from a botanical point of view, is not actually a berry but is classed as an aggregate fruit ?

Biologically speaking, it is not the strawberry as a whole that is considered to be the actual fruit, but it is the many little yellow pips on the surface which make up the fruit. One way it propagates itself is when these pips of the strawberries that remain on the stem, dry up after some time and then fall onto the ground. Another way is when offshoots are formed close to the ground, which grow into new strawberry plants.
