HiPP Twists: Baby Pancakes with @brummymummydiaries

Toddler | Recipes | | Hayley

This pancake day we’ve teamed up with @brummymummydiaries to share some of her delicious, easy baby pancakes that your little one will love time and time again.

Pancakes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on Pancake Day is just tradition! You can’t let your little one miss out on all of the fun so here are some simple baby pancake recipes to delight your little one’s taste buds using yummy HiPP baby food. I love incorporating HiPP products because they can add so much flavour and texture to the relatively plain pancakes.

What’s so great about pancakes is that they are just so versatile – you can put anything in them from baby cereal, fruit purées, and yogurts and top them with anything too! No two pancakes are the same and that’s the fun of it! If your children are old enough, then why don’t you ask them to help with all of the mixing, mashing, and pouring!

Here are the simple, adaptable, and very tasty baby pancake recipes:

Strawberry and Raspberry Smile Pancakes

Strawberry and Raspberry Smile Pancakes are a fun twist on the classic pancake. HiPP Organic’s yogurts and purées make yummy fruity toppings that compliment baby pancakes. Feel free to use your little one’s favourite HiPP baby food here!

  1. In a bowl, whisk together 50g plain flour, 1 egg, 1tsp of vegetable oil, and 150ml of milk (formula/breastmilk/cow’s milk).
  2. Pour the mixture into a pan and fry for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. On top of the pancake, make a smiley face out of HiPP Organic’s Strawberry and Raspberry Yogurt.
  4. Serve with the remaining yogurt, fruit and enjoy!

Baby Banana Rice Pancakes

Baby Banana Rice Pancakes are thicker than your usual pancake and have so much more texture and natural sweetness for your little one to explore. Here’s how to make them:

  1. Mash 1 ripe banana in a bowl.
  2. Add 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of HiPP Baby Rice.
  3. Mix well until a pancake mixture is formed.
  4. Pour the pancake mix into a pan and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Serve with fruit and/or yogurt.

Chocolate Oat Pancakes

A chocolatey treat which your little one will love! Instead of chocolate you can also use mashed banana, blueberries, raspberries, lemon, orange etc.

  1. Sift 60g of plain flour and 2 tsp of cocoa powder into a bowl.
  2. Make a well in the centre of the flour mixture and add 1 egg, 30g melted butter, 100ml of your preferred milk, 35 ml of water, and 2 tbsp of HiPP Organic Creamy Porridge. Whisk together until a pancake batter if formed.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and spray with cooking oil, pour 2 tbsp of batter and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  4. Serve with yogurt and fruit/ fruit puree

I hope you enjoy making these pancakes that are just perfect for babies and children of all ages for that matter. You can adapt the recipes using other HiPP cereal, yogurts, and purées and really explore with flavour and texture! Be creative and let your little one join in with all of the pancake preparation and flavour and decoration. Use their favourite fruit and baby food and enjoy the tasty treat together. Have a happy HiPP Pancake Day!
