About the variety

We use Hokkaido pumpkins and butternut squash for our HiPP Organic jars. These varieties originally came from Japan and South America but, for many years now, they have also been perfectly at home in the Central European summer climate. The Hokkaido is orange in colour and has a nutty flavour. The butternut squash, on the other hand, often has a rather yellow to orange shade and has – as the name suggests – a buttery and mild flavour. They are lightweights in comparison to their relatives, weighing in at around one to two kilograms.
